Le parc Hluhluwe-Imfolozi est la plus ancienne réserve animalière d'Afrique. Ce parc de 96 000 hectares abrite les Big 5 africains, des lycaons, des guépards et bien d'autres espèces. C'est aussi le parc qui, à lui seul, a sauvé les rhinocéros de la quasi-extinction dans les années 60, alors qu'il n'en restait que moins de 100 sur la planète. Le roi Shaka utilisait autrefois la partie sud (Umfolozi) comme terrain de chasse personnel.
