Little Putuo Island
Xiao Putuo, meaning “Little Putuo,” is a small islet located in the southeast part of Erhai Lake near Wase Village, Dali, Yunnan Province, China. The islet is named after Mount Putuo, a famous Buddhist sacred site, and is home to a small but elegant temple dedicated to Guanyin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion.
Covering only a few dozen square meters, Xiao Putuo consists of a rocky outcrop with the temple built atop it, surrounded by clear blue waters. The temple, originally built during the Ming Dynasty, attracts both pilgrims and tourists who come to pray for blessings and enjoy the serene beauty of Erhai Lake. Visitors often take a short boat ride to reach the islet, where they can admire its peaceful atmosphere, ancient architecture, and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and lake.

Xizhou Ancient Town
Xizhou Ancient Town is located about 18 kilometers north of Dali Old Town, on the western shore of Erhai Lake in Yunnan Province, China. Historically, it was an important commercial center along the ancient Tea Horse Road and is well known as a cultural heartland of the Bai ethnic people.
The town is famous for its well-preserved Bai architecture, featuring traditional residential courtyards with ornate wooden carvings, marble decorations, and distinctive horse-head walls. Many of these houses were built during the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China period, reflecting both Bai and Western architectural influences due to historical trade and returned overseas merchants.
