Here, lacquerware artisans work every day. In this experience, you will first observe their work up close and learn about the process of making traditional Japanese lacquerware.
Next, you will paint your own illustration on a Yamanaka lacquerware plate using colorful natural lacquer. This allows you to experience the techniques of a maki-e (lacquer decoration) artisan.
Working with lacquer can be challenging, but you can freely choose your own colors and designs, making the experience creative and enjoyable. Our staff will carefully support you throughout the process, so you can complete your piece by yourself until the very end.
