The first of the Grand Shrines of the Government after Ise Jingu Shrine. When welcoming royal families and other distinguished guests from around the world, as well as government dignitaries, a priest will escort them to this special place.
They will guide you to places that are not open to the public on a daily basis, such as the throne in the Shimbuden, where the Emperor sits when he arrives, the “Ura-Kairo” where you can see the main shrine from the back, the main shrine, the O-takuden, and other places, or conduct special formal visits. This tour offers VIP treatment, with a priest guiding you through the shrine with commentary.

Shimogamo Jinja
Purify yourself in the Tezumisha - the first ceremony. Shimbuden and the “Open Room” (a room that is not open to the public). This is an important cultural property that is not open to the public.
Honden-The main hall of Shimogamo Shrine is a rare place that is open to special visitors only during official worship and festivals.
The Oshidono, Gosha-sha, and Himuro - The O-tamidono, Goshasha-sha, and Ice House are only open to the public during special open houses. Ura Corridor and Backside of the Main Shrine. This zone is not open to the public.
Mitarashi Pond and Inoue Shrine - You can draw a rare omikuji called “mizu-mikuji; Prayers at the Reiden; Pray for safety on your journey. This is a formal visit to a Shinto shrine.
Reception - Rice cakes and tea will be served. Souvenirs containing omamori (sacred sake) and good luck charms will be offered by the shrine.
