Itinerary
1
Golden Temple
You will be picked up from hotel / fixed point in the morning hours and start your tour for Amritsar. Starting your tour from the iconic Golden Temple is just a tiny component of this enormous gurdwara complex, known as Harmandir Sahib to Sikhs. The spiritual focus is the tank surrounding the gleaming main shrine–the Amrit Sarovar from which Amritsar takes his name, excavated in 1577 by the fourth Sikh guru, Ram Das. Ringed by a marble walkway, the tank is said to have healing powers, and pilgrims come from across the world to bathe in its sacred waters. No visit to a gurudwara is complete without the taste of a langar (community kitchen / meal) and the scale of the community meal at the Golden Temple has to be seen to be believed. Rows upon rows of people line up to collect clean trays and cutlery and make their way to the two-level langar hall. All the food is prepared, cooked and served by volunteers called Kar-Sevaks and is available from early dawn to late night.

Jallianwala Bagh
After that visit the historic Jallianwala Bagh, a few minutes walk from Harmandir Sahib, is forever notorious for the British massacre of innocent people. The gardens are green, well manicured and colorful. The visitors are mixed with joggers and walkers. It is difficult to imagine this lovely place being the scene of the tragedy of 1919. After visiting enjoy your lunch at Local Restaurant / Dhaba (Veg / Non- Veg- Optional).

Wagah Border
At 2:30 pm, leave to Wagah border which is 35 Kms away from Amritsar to enjoy the Beating Retreat Celebration with gate closure ceremonies and Indian and Pakistan troops. Witness the BSF and Pakistani Rangers from their respective sides marching towards the gates, an experience not to be missed while you're in Amritsar. From their respective sides, the BSF and the Pakistani Rangers march towards the doors. The troops greet each other after the door is open and begin to lower the flags(No doors are open now a days ). The flags are folded closely and brought back. The ceremony reaches a crescendo with the soldiers returning to the border line for the final handshake(No Hand Shake) and the blowing of the bugle marks the end of the ceremony. As the ceremony reaches its apogee, Jai Hind and Pakistan Zindabad shout in the air.
After the ceremony, you will be escorted back to your hotel / fixed point / dropped within city center or at the airport.
