Sumela Monastery
Continuing our journey with first destination to towards the monastery itself and you can reach the legendary structure after a 10 minute walk. Nestled in a steep cliff at an elevation of about 1,200 metres (3,900 ft) facing the Altındere valley, it is a site of great historical and cultural significance, as well as a major tourist attraction within Altındere National Park. The origin of the name of the monastery is disputed. The more popular theory is the Greek "Sou Melá", meaning "of black (mountain)" (as in the dark/black mountain).[4] Another theory, however, is that it comes from the Laz word for the Trinity, "Sumela".
It is not known when the monastery was founded, but the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism places the date around AD 386, during the reign of the emperor Theodosius I (375–395 AD).

Hamsikoy
Hamsiköy is a neighborhood in the Maçka district of Trabzon province. Being approximately 1300m above sea level makes the air cooler, and the amount of humidity on the coast is almost halved here.
The name of Hamsiköy comes from the Arabic word 'Hamse'. Hamse means 'five' and was the settlement center to which five villages around Hamsiköy were connected in this period. We will stop here for lunch and get the opportunity to taste the famous Hamsiköy rice pudding on site.

Karaca Cave
Karaca Cave is truly one of the unique miracles of nature. The moment you step inside, it's like you've entered a completely different world. Stalactites and stalagmites, formed over millions of years, dazzle like works of art in every corner of the cave.
Besides its visual beauty, the cave has another feature. A trip here is a cure for asthma patients. Because it allows patients to breathe much easier with its average temperature of 12-17 degrees, absolute humidity rate of around 70%, and high oxygen air free from pollen and dust. Therefore, it is good for non-chronic asthma patients. With its clean and pollen-free air, the cave provides healthy breathing and vigor even to visitors who do not have any diseases. In addition, the cave air is cooler than outside in summer and relatively warmer in winter. With these features, the cave is considered a small microclimate area.
