Dome: Brunelleschi's dome is a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, being the largest brick dome ever constructed. It employs a double shell and a herringbone brick pattern to ensure stability.
The bell tower was designed by Giotto di Bondone, though he only lived to see the lower levels constructed. Andrea Pisano and Francesco Talenti completed the tower after Giotto's death.
