Colosseum
Always include the Colosseum among Rome attractions, the most iconic symbol of Imperial Rome.
The Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is the largest ancient amphitheater ever constructed and showcases the brilliance of Roman engineering and architecture. Originally covered in travertine marble it featured 80 arched entrances, enabling 50,000 to 80,000 spectators to enter and exit within minutes.
For over 400 years, the Colosseum was the center of public entertainment in Rome, like Gladiatorial Combat, Animal hunts and other spectacles like sea battles.
