Þórsmörk is an incredibly beautiful nature reserve, situated in the heart of South Iceland nestled among the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull and Tindfjallajökull.
On our hike we take in the astonishing view over Þórsmörk, Mýrdalsjökull glacier and the highlands. We will also hike up to Gígjökull glacier where we observe the effects of the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption and breath in the purifying glacial air.
Þórsmörk is a spectacular place to visit, it has it's own kind of feel to it. It is Icelandic nature to the core.
You start the day by driving into Þórsmörk in a Super Jeep, making scenic stops on the way. On our journey, we’ll see Eyjafjalljökull Volcano by making a stop at Gígjökull outlet glaciers that stretch from the Glacier. From there on, we drive towards our mountain hut in Húsadalur, resting and feasting in between 3 of Iceland’s most spectacular Glaciers.
After our stop at Gígjökul, we head on deeper into the Þórsmörk valley. With a stop at Steinholt, we will find our best option for a short hike in the powerful landscape. From there, we head on to Húsadalur, where we will spend the night. There is a BBQ dinner, and serenity awaits us!
