Santa Pola is the closest point on the Peninsula to Tabarca, the only inhabited island in the Valencian Community, located just 3 miles from the Cape. Tabarca Island, declared a national historical site in 1964.
Tabarca is a unique place that captivates with its history, it has the walls, the gates of San Gabriel, San Miguel and San Rafael, the defensive tower of San José, the Governor's House and the Church. Besides the lighthouse.
It is also an authentic marine paradise (recognized in 1986 as the first marine reserve in the country) with crystal clear waters and spectacular fauna and flora for lovers of diving. The coastline is jagged, formed by small cliffs a few meters high, with pebble beaches and a single sandy beach with transparent waters.
