Plaza de Ramales
The Plaza de Ramales, located in Madrid’s historic centre, is a quiet and historic corner a short walk from the Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral. This picturesque square occupies the place where the church of San Juan Bautista, destroyed in the 19th century and famous for being the burial place of the painter Diego Velázquez, was located. Although his grave has never been found, a memorial plaque in the square recalls this fact.
The square is surrounded by elegant buildings and terraces where we can enjoy local cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. It is a perfect place to pause during a walk through the most historic and monumental Madrid.

Plaza Mayor
Madrid’s Plaza Mayor is one of the most iconic and visited places in the city, located in the heart of the old town. Built in the 17th century during the reign of Philip III, whose equestrian statue presides over the square, this majestic space has been the scene of markets, bullfights, cars of faith and festivities.
With its characteristic red-fronted buildings and uniform balconies, the square is surrounded by restaurants and cafes that invite you to enjoy Madrid’s gastronomy, such as the famous squid sandwiches. Among its highlights are the Bakery House, with decorative frescoes, and its historic arcades, perfect for exploring shops and small venues.
Today, Plaza Mayor is a must-see for those who want to soak up the history, art and vibrant atmosphere of Madrid.
During our stop in the square we will take the opportunity to continue tasting the typical gastronomy of the capital.
