Nearby, the Federal Chancellery is located at Ballhausplatz.
Heldenplatz has witnessed numerous pivotal moments in history. One of the most significant events occurred here on March 15, 1938, when Adolf Hitler made his infamous announcement of the Austrian Anschluss, marking Austria’s annexation into Nazi Germany.

The Spanish Riding School (Spanische Hofreitschule) is a renowned Austrian Baroque institution based in Vienna, dedicated to preserving the art of classical dressage and training the world-famous Lipizzaner horses. Josefsplatz, named after Emperor Joseph II, the eldest son of Maria Theresa, is a square steeped in history—did you know he once invented a reusable coffin? During the tour I´ll explain you that in detail. We’ll also explore the Augustinerkirche (from outside), the Habsburg family's wedding church, marvel at the breathtaking 300-year-old Baroque library (from outside), and talk about a palace where the young Mozart once performed his concerts.
