We will pick you up from your hotel early in the morning to go to the train station in Ollantaytambo and then catch the train to the starting point of the hike at km.104 following railroad to Machupicchu. Upon arriving, we will pass by the checkpoint, where the passports and permits is going to be checked. After five minutes of walking, we will visit the archeological site of Chachabamba, and then begin the ascent up of the 8 km trail to the impressive Wiñaywayna archaeological site, that is an agricultural area with many terraces, a religious and urban area, which make the place complete and beautiful. On the way up, we will be able to enjoy magnificent views of the Urubamba River Valley, the Choquesuysuy archaeological complex on the opposite side of the river, and a beautiful waterfall minutes away from Wiñaywayna.
Our lunch is going to be in Wiñaywayna campsite, then to for about an hour of trek along a trail of flat stones on the edges of the highland jungle cliffs taking us to ‘Intipunku’ or the Sun Gate. From this point, we will have the first view of the sacred citadel of Machupicchu. From Intipunku we will descend to Machupicchu and then take the bus to Aguas Calientes, where we will be have an accommodation.
