Begin your tour at the Granada Theatre, the crown jewel of downtown Santa Barbara. Stroll through the arts district, taking in the city’s white-washed adobe buildings, red-tiled roofs, and palm-lined beaches.

Established in 1941, SBMA’s 27,000-piece permanent collection includes antiquities, Asian art, Latin American art, photography, sculptures, and 19th and 20th Century European, British, and American Art.

Santa Barbara Public Library
The Santa Barbara Public Library's Central Building, a Spanish Colonial Revival landmark, began with a Carnegie grant-funded design by Henry Hornbostel (with local Francis Wilson), opening in 1917, then reconstructed by Carleton Winslow after the 1925 earthquake, with the Art Deco Faulkner Gallery (by Myron Hunt) added in 1930, culminating in significant renovations and plaza revitalization in the 2020s to restore historic features like the iconic tympanum and poppy mural. It also used to be the post office.

Designed in the Spanish-Colonial style and completed in 1929, the fully operational Courthouse is an iconic Santa Barbara landmark with its distinctive four-faced clock tower, red tile roofs, elegant arches and verdant sunken garden and grounds.

The Casa de la Guerra was the residence of the fifth commandant of the Presidio de Santa Barbara, José de la Guerra y Noriega, founder of the Guerra family of California from 1828 until his death in 1858. Descendants of José lived in the home until 1943.
