The Portal of San Giorgio is the only architectural element that survived the earthquake that destroyed much of the city. Built in Gothic-Catalan style with light pink stone, it is decorated with carved motifs, and its central part depicts the famous scene of Saint George fighting the dragon, a symbol of the city and its history.
