Itinerary

Riva Harbor
We will meet at Riva promenade and start our tour. This is a good place to enjoy a full view of the Roman palace, and the medieval town, as well as Marjan hill/park. We will also end the tour at this place.

Diocletian's Palace
We will visit this attraction as the main part of our tour, it is an area of about 9 acres that we will walk in detail and visit many places inside; as well as see how this Roman piece of architecture is being used for modern purposes.

Diocletian Palace Substructures
(Internal visit) The Substructures are the best preserved part of the Roman palace and therefore the most valuable for the understanding of the construction, architecture and the purpose of this imperial palace. It is highly recommended to go inside and visit all the available rooms in this area and discuss their former functions.

Cathedral of Saint Domnius
(External visit) We will see this unique Roman Catholic cathedral that is at the same time the emperor's burial site (his Mausoleum).

We will visit the area of the former emperor's apartment and especially his dining hall complex.

Vestibulum of Diocletian's Palace
We will visit this part of the emperor's chambers and talk about its importance. Often during summer months, it is possible to listen to traditional Dalmatian singing here, because this site offers great accoustics.

The Peristyle of Diocletian's Palace
We will visit the imperial square in the Palace - Peristyle, talk about its importance and admire the view of the emperor's Mausoleum (present day's Cathedral with belltower) and of an original Egyptian sphynx.

(External visit) We will see the temple where the main Roman god Jupiter was worshipped.

The Golden Gate
We will pass through the main gate to the Roman palace and admire the full view of the fortifications of the palace from the outside.

We will see the gigantic statue that is an iconic symbol of Split.
