The territory of Akhtali dates back to BC. It dates back to the VIII century. The historical settlement of Akhtali was known as Agaraki in the 5th century. The etymology of the name Akhtali is believed to be of Turkish origin, meaning white gate. Phhindzahank literally means copper mine.
