The epitome of beauty is the universally admired masterpiece of the UNESCO world's heritage and is one amongst the Seven Wonders of the World. The monument was built between 1631 and 1648 by Emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal.

Agra Fort
Near the gardens of the Taj Mahal stands another UNESCO Heritage site, was built under the commission of Emperor Akbar in 1565. The Mughal monument, known as the Red Fort of Agra, also the “Lal –Qila” or “Fort Rouge” as the fort was built in red sandstone. The main areas to be visited are the Diwan-i-Aam - “Hall of Public Audience”, the Diwan-i-Khas -“Hall of Private Audience”, the Sheesh Mahal- “mirror palace” and the Sukh Niwas and two very beautiful mosques.
