Nowadays its territory is 27,079 ha. Two reserves are situated on its territory (biosphere reservation “Bistrishko Branishte” (Bistritsa Forest Reserve) and “Torfeno Branishte” (Turf Forest Reserve), as well as one natural landmark (the Duhlata Cave).
