Clan Jetty Heritage Home
The Clan Jetties form a residential neighbourhood within the city of George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang. Situated within the city's central business district, it now comprises seven wooden villages lining the coastal road of Weld Quay, each owned by residents of a specific Chinese clan – Ong, Lim, Chew, Tan, Lee, Mixed Clan and Yeoh jetties.
The community of Clan Jetties came into existence gradually over a period spanning from the 1880s to the 1960s. In total, nine clan villages were built, but developments post-independence reduced their number to the current seven. After the city centre was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2008, the Clan Jetties became a heritage tourism destination.

Chaiya Mangalaram Thai Buddhist Temple
The "Sleeping Buddha" in Penang refers to Wat Chayamangkalaram, a famous Thai Buddhist temple on Burma Road (Lorong Burma) known for its massive, gold-plated reclining Buddha statue, symbolizing the Buddha's entry into Nirvana, located directly opposite the Dharmikarama Burmese Temple and a must-visit for its grandeur and spiritual significance.
This temple is a Thai temple and it is well known due to the gold plated reclining Buddha that is as long as 33meters. This made it one of the largest available in the whole wide world. The temple was built in the year of 1845 on the five acres land given by Queen Victoria to the Thai's community. The reclining Buddha represents the historical Buddha at his death, with the name of Pra Buddhachaiya Mongkul which is a symbol to a complete peace and detachment from the world. You will be greeted by two statues right outside of the temple entrance.
