Itinerary
1
Tongass National Forest
As we cruise along the shorelines of The Tongass National Forest, you will get an intimate encounter with the largest national forest in the United States. The significance goes far beyond its size-its historically important for Indigenous culture, conservation, military strategy, fishing, logging, and modern environmental policy.
2
Totem Bight State Historical Park
The Totem Bight State Historical Park significant because it represents the earliest major efforts in Alaska to preserve and restore the artistic and cultural traditions of Southeast Alaska Native peoples-especially the Tlingit and Haida cultures. We will visit the site via the waterfront and point out the totem poles and share the stories behind them from our vessel.
3
Guard Island Lighthouse
The Guard Island Lighthouse plays a critical role in maritime navigation and safety along Alaska's Inside Passage for the fishing, mining, and shipping industries. At the entrance of the Tongass Narrows, the lighthouse has helped vessels through one of the busiest marine corridors in Southeast Alaska. Enjoy the views and take photos of the lighthouse and the marine life that inhabit this island.
