Photo Stop at The Al Alam Palace "Palace of the Flag" is a palace located in Old Muscat, Oman. It was used as a ceremonial palace by Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said. One of six sultanic residences of the monarch, has a history of over 200 years, and was built under the watch of Imam Sultan bin Ahmed, the 7th direct grandfather of Sultan Qaboos.

Photo stop outside Al Jalali Fort, or Ash Sharqiya Fort, is a fort in the harbor of Old Muscat, Oman. The fort was built by the Portuguese under Philip I of Portugal in the 1580s to protect the harbor after Muscat had twice been sacked by Ottoman forces. It fell to Omani forces in 1650. During the civil wars between 1718 and 1747, the fort was twice captured by Persians who had been invited to assist one of the rival Imams. The fort was extensively rebuilt later.

Photo stop or visit inside. Fort Al-Mirani is a fort, originally built by the Portuguese, in the harbour of the city of Old Muscat, Oman.

Muttrah Fort is a historic fort in wilayat Muttrah in Muscat. The fort sits on a dominating position on the hills overlooking the natural harbor of Muttrah, which would have made it quite an impregnable position to defend Muttrah from attacks while also allowing observation of the surrounding territory from its watchtowers.

Next, we’ll visit Muttrah Souq, one of Oman’s oldest and most historic marketplaces, with a history dating back around 200 years. Wander through its traditional narrow lanes and discover a wonderful selection of souvenirs, Omani handicrafts, perfumes, spices, silver jewelry, and traditional treasures—a perfect place to experience the authentic charm and heritage of Oman.

Note: The Grand Mosque is closed to visitors every Friday. The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque will be a photo stop from the outside only. It is one of the largest and most magnificent mosques in the world, renowned for its stunning Islamic architecture and beautiful details. Non-Muslim visitors are generally welcome to enter from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM (Saturday–Thursday). Muslim visitors may visit the mosque outside these hours as well, subject to the mosque’s visitor guidelines.
