Chillon Castle is the main tourist Attraction of this excursion, as it is the most visited historical monument in Switzerland. The castle was built in the thirteenth century to control the passage along Lake Geneva. It served in times as an arsenal, prison and residence of the Counts of Savoy. The outside of the castle also deserves the attention of visitors who take pictures of it, walking around and enjoying the view. This being the last visit the return to Geneva will be by motorway, about one hour journey. Important review: Chillon Castle is closed every year exceptionally on January 1st and December 25th.
