National Archives Building of the Republic of Indonesia
This 18th-century structure was the former house of VOC Governor General Reinier de Klerk. There were proposals to demolish it and replace it with stores around 1900. The Bataviaasch Genootschap van Kunsten en Wetenschappen, which de Klerk created, intervened to save him. Genootschap, for example, provided furnishings that may still seen in the building. This structure was utilized by the Dutch East Indies colonial government's Mining department until 1925. Later, the location was utilized as the Lands archive ("state archive").
