It was the first pagan temple to be transformed into a church, and therefore it was saved from being destroyed throughout the ages. Today it is a burial place for several important Italian historical figures. Piazza Navona
Just round the corner is Piazza Navona. It was an open stadium, a genuine competition arena for athletics contests as well as gladiatorial combat. When it became a public place, many examples of baroque architecture and artwork were added, such as the Pamphili Palace, the church of Saint’Agnes, the three lavish fountains and the obelisk in the center of the square, which came from Egypt. Kids will love this place, it’s such a great family-friendly pedestrian area and Alessandra will help you to get the most out of this square!
