Two of Lebanon's most iconic coastal towns — one ancient, one buzzing — in a single private day from Beirut. Byblos is one of the oldest cities ever built, with 7,000 years of history packed into a single walk through a Crusader castle, a stone-paved souk, and an ancient fishing port that is still very much alive. Batroun is 3,000 years old and feels like it discovered craft beer and good vibes somewhere along the way — the perfect place to end the day with fresh seafood, a cold drink, and zero agenda. History in the morning, coastal hangout in the afternoon. Entirely private. Entirely your pace.

Itinerary
1
Beirut
9:00 AM — Departure from Beirut
Your driver picks you up from your Beirut hotel and heads north along the coastal highway — Byblos is 45 minutes away and best visited in the morning before the day warms up and the crowds arrive.
2
Byblos Castle
Byblos Castle & archaeological site — 7,000 years in one place
Arrive in Byblos — one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on earth — and walk straight into 7,000 years of history. The 12th-century Crusader castle was built from recycled Phoenician and Roman stones — civilisations literally stacked on top of each other, visible in the walls if you know what to look for. Inside, Neolithic foundations from 5000 BC, Bronze Age temples, Phoenician royal tombs, and Roman streets all unfold in a single archaeological site. Byblos gave the world its alphabet. Its name gave us the word Bible. Your driver knows the stories behind the stones and shares them as you explore at your own pace.

Old Souk
Byblos Old Souk & fishing port
Step out of the castle and into the old souk — stone-paved lanes with jewellers crafting Phoenician-inspired pieces, antique dealers with centuries of finds, and café doorways that have been open for generations. Follow it all the way down to the ancient fishing harbour — one of the oldest ports in the world still in daily use, still colourful with wooden boats, still framed by medieval walls with the Mediterranean sparkling beyond. A great spot for photos and a natural lead-in to lunch.

Byblos
Lunch in Byblos — optional
A waterfront table, fresh mezze arriving in waves, grilled fish from the harbour right in front of you. Optional — but the kind of optional that nobody says no to once they see the view.

Batroun
Drive north to Batroun — founded by the Phoenicians over 3,000 years ago and somehow still getting better with age. The old town's stone streets, Ottoman houses, and whitewashed churches give way to a seafront lined with cafés, restaurants, and the kind of easy coastal energy that makes you want to stay longer than planned. Walk the 3,000-year-old Phoenician sea wall — an ancient natural rock barrier carved to protect the harbour and still standing on the beach today. Then decide what you feel like — fresh seafood lunch, a Lebanese craft beer from one of Batroun's legendary microbreweries, a swim at one of the nearby beaches, or just a wander through streets where 3,000 years of history sit comfortably alongside a very good coffee. Batroun does not demand anything from you. That is exactly the point.

Beirut
Return to Beirut — approx. 5:00–6:00 PM
Coastal drive back to Beirut with drop-off at your hotel — completing a day that moved from 7,000-year-old ruins to a Phoenician seafront town that is still very much alive and enjoying itself.
