Vesuvius National Park
A visit to Mount Vesuvius is a unique experience, combining nature, history and spectacular views of the Gulf of Naples.
Here's what to see and what to expect during the hike: The Crater Trail: The climb takes about 30-40 minutes, and is strenuous but accessible to all.
Along the way there are breathtaking views of Naples, the Amalfi Coast and the islands of Capri and Ischia.
The Crater of Vesuvius:
Once at the top, you can observe the active crater, from the edge you can see the fumaroles and the volcanic soil that changes color depending on the mineral composition.
Panorama of the Gulf of Naples:
One of the highlights of the visit is the extraordinary panorama that sweeps over Naples, Mount Vesuvius, the Sorrento Peninsula and the Tyrrhenian Sea.
On clear days, the view extends all the way to Capri and the Pontine Islands.
