Sorrento is one of Italy's most famous resort towns. Wine tour will occur around Vesuvius Volcano where there is a breathtaking wine yard where they grow particular grapes in order to make a great wine known as lacrima de zChristi which means the tears of Christ. Pompeii city of the Roman Empire, was founded in the 6th century BC. and destroyed together with Herculaneum, Oplonti and Stabia, during the eruption of Vesuvius in the year 79 AD. Buried under several meters of volcanic sediment, preserved from bad weather and looting, the city fell into oblivion for fifteen centuries. The state of conservation of the ancient Roman city is however remarkable and the excavations undertaken since the 18th century will bring to light a thriving city, a precious testimony of the urban planning and civilization of ancient Rome.
