Since 2019.
In the village of Kalnciems by the river and peat bogs there is a Soviet-era building built in 1980. This building has slum status. The building has not been used for decades. Private family funds are invested in cleaning and restoration works. Step by step, the building is being renovated for the creation of a peat art museum named Peat House. The Peat House will also have a peat workshop. Works of art peat products will be created. 90% handmade is used to prepare peat. The aim of the Peat Museum is to summarize and make public the course of these traditions.
As artist Edgars Ameriks found the peat as material wich we can choose like new innovative material for design and art. With long experience and research in peat processing it can be use with individual techniques to create peat artworks. Each artwork is an artefact about opportunities for our future.
