Located beneath the Učka mountain and on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, Opatija is one of Croatia's most famous destinations thanks to its local climate, beautiful architecture, boutique hotels, and luxurious, well-tended parks and promenades. Opatija is called the Queen of Adriatic for a good reason.
Take a walk with me and explore the beauty of my hometown! If you like relaxing walks then this tour is a great option for you since the majority of the walking will be on Opatija's 14 km long promenade called Lungomare and Opatija˙s magnificent botanical parks. The Angiolina Park - Villa Angiolina
Angiolina Park is one of the most celebrated parks in Croatia and the most famous park in Opatija. With a great variety of plant species from different parts of the world, this park can be described as the green heart of the town. Inside the park is the old Villa Angiolina - cradle of Croatian tourism

Hotel Kvarner
The first hotel in the area, built in 1884, marked the beginning of tourism in Kvarner Bay. It was constructed in only nine months. Great efforts were put into creating the image of Opatija as a fashionable health resort, and the town was compared to Nice in France.

Obalno šetalište Franje Josipa I

Church of St. Jacob
The Church of St. James in the centre of Opatija is one of the town’s most significant buildings. The story of Opatija is closely related to this church and its monastery, since this is where the town got its name (Opatija is the Croatian word for abbey).

Maiden With The Seagull
Maiden with a seagull is a sculpture erected in 1956 and turned into one of Opatija’s symbols. Before that, in its place, stood the “Madonna del Mare”, the work of sculptor Rathausky from Graz.

Market Opatija
Here in Opatija's market, you can still buy fruit and vegetables from the market gardens of Opatija's hinterland, as well as honey, cheese, and other typical products of the area. Seafood too, fresh from the Adriatic, continues to be sold here. Of course, apart from being the central place to buy foodstuff, Opatija's market is a popular meeting point for local people and a key landmark of the modern town.
