Nrityagram Road
You will be escorted from your hotel in Bangalore in your air-conditioned vehicle to Nrityagram. On arrival in the village you will be met by your guide, who will show you this residential dance school. You will view the unique beauty of the village and the space it occupies.
Nrityagram has gained international acclaim as the first modern and exclusive Gurukul (residential school) for Indian Classical Dances. Following the ancient guru-shishya ( teacher-student) tradition, students look after and care for their Guru (teacher) by growing fruit and vegetables on the land, cooking, cleaning and performing dance recitals. At Nrityagram, the institution fulfills the role of the Guru - as protector.
Along with the intensive dance training, the students learn Indian Literature, mythology, poetry, Sanskrit, music, aesthetics and other subjects. Regular workshops are conducted. Since 1996, Nrityagram dance troupes have given performances across the globe.
