Itinerary
1
Nobelpreisträger-Steg
Overlooking the so-called “Little Lake” – the lake part of Lake Constance between the island of Lindau and the northern mainland – enjoy your first glass of delicious Lake Constance wine.
15 minutes
2
Marktplatz
Via the Old School Square, we head to the historic city centre of Linz. In the center of the old town is the market square, lined with several Linz sights, such as the “Haus zum Cavazzen”, which houses the Municipal Museum, the Neptune Fountain, the two main churches of the city and the former Holy Spirit Hospital. Ideal for tasting a delicious local wine.
15 minutes
3
Fischergasse
Via the Pfaffengässle it goes down to Fischergasse. Here beautiful townhouses from the Baroque period line up. Through a narrow passage we continue to Tanberschanze.
5 minutes
4
Gerberschanze
At the Gerberschanze, the view opens far over into the Bregenz Bay and to the Alps of Vorarlberg and Switzerland. At the viewpoint “An der Linde” you can enjoy not only the view over Lake Constance, but also a glass of a delicious Lake Constance wine.
15 minutes
5
Stadttheater
The trail follows the Uferweg, one of Linz's lakeside promenades, past the marina and back to Fischergasse. Linz City Theatre with its famous Linz Puppet Opera is located in the former Barefoot Monastery.
10 minutes
6
Lindavia-Brunnen
After a few steps through the picturesque old town, we reach the Lindavia Fountain, which is decorated with allegories to the main economic sectors of the city. The small garden right next door is a great place to taste a good drop of Lake Constance wine.
10 minutes
7
Historic Town Hall
Just opposite is the Gothic town hall, one of the city's landmarks. The reverse, facing Lake Constance, shows pictures of the Reichstag from 1496, when the Habsburg Philip the Beautiful celebrated pompous festivals in Lindau, representing his father Maximilian.
5 minutes
8
Lindau Hafen
Linz harbour shows two landmarks of the city: the Bavarian Lion on the left and the only lighthouse in Bavaria on the right. They stand at the entrance to the harbour and together form one of the most beautiful harbour entrances in Europe. Toast the stone Linz Lions with a wholesome glass of wine from Lake Constance!
10 minutes
9
Mangturm
At the end of the 12th century. Built as part of the city's fortifications, the Mangturm served as a lighthouse until modern times, pointing the way to the port for ships in darkness. The long, blond braid hanging from one of the old gunpowders is reminiscent of Rapunzel and thus of the fairy tale readings that occasionally take place in the historic building.
5 minutes

Färbergasse
According to the book by the German writer Hans Wolfram Geißler, the novel character Augustin Sumser, a music box maker and aeronautical figure, lived at the beginning of the 19th century. in Lindau. We follow the lively Maximilianstraße past the “Brodlaube” and discover the 1000-year-old St. Peter’s Church at Oberer Schrannenplatz, the highest point on Linz Island. It is the oldest parish church in the city and still shows rubella drawings attributed to the painter Hans Holbein the Elder. It also serves as a memorial to the victims of the First and Second World Wars.
10 minutes

Diebsturm
Right next to St. Peter's Church stands the Thief Tower with its coloured glazed roof tiles and its four corner towers. The imposing 14th century tower once served as a prison.

Narren-Brunnen, Insel Lindau - Michael Veit (1989)
The water fountain was built in 1989 by the Linz Narrenzunft. It shows figures of the Linz carnival, which is in the tradition of the Swabian-Alemannic carnival. The romantic square in the middle of Linz's Old Town is perfect for tasting a "foolishly good" drop of Linz wine.
