Starting high on the Shira Plateau, it offers wide-open views of Mount Kilimanjaro that you won’t get on rainforest day hikes. You’ll enjoy clear scenery of Cathedral Peak, Shira Cave and Shira 2, with constant visibility of the summit on clear days. The plateau is rich in wildlife, and it’s common to spot buffalo, elephants, antelopes, colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and many bird species. This makes the hike both scenic and nature-filled.
