This historic route includes the Camino de Cruces and the Camino Real, which connected the Caribbean (Portobelo) and Pacific (Panama Viejo/Old Panama City) coasts during the Spanish colonial period starting in the 16th century. we are going to hike only one section of this trail, half of the hike is easy money we basically hike on a road with hiking shoes to the ridge of the hill and the second stage is challenging we go down into real jungle by las cruces trail we provide rubber boots and hiking poles, no need big bagpacks only room enough for water...

Parque Nacional Soberania
in 1517 Governor Pedrarias sent a soldier named Gaspar Espinosa to built a Royal Road , the Camino Real, across the isthmus. Espinosa took 4000 indian slaves and starting from Nombre de Dios houled river cobbles to pave the road, the trail intersected with a road coming from Poertobelo, continued southwest crossing the Chagres river at Venta de Cruces and turn south onto Pacific shore to a fishing village called Panama by the local fisgermen. We start the hike from Plantation trail and end in Venta de Cruces cross the river by boat to Gamboa pier. This hike is very difficult you need to be in good physical condition is more than 4 hours hiking we can stop for short breaks or to eat something, need hiking shoes long sleve shirts a minimum of 4 hydrating drinks per person and mosquito repelent
