Itinerary
This exciting hiking trail begins at “Paso de Cortés” within the Iztaccíhuatl-Popocatépetl National Park, at an elevation of 3,500 meters above sea level. In the extraordinary forest where you will observe pines, oaks and oyameles, as well as beautiful mountain roses and the endemic Teporingo rabbit. As you ascend, you can see the imposing Pico de Orizaba (the highest mountain in Mexico), the enigmatic Malinche and the Sierra Negra. Later the landscape is transformed, moving from leafy forests to areas of alpine scrub and finally rocky and volcanic terrain.
