Itinerary
This really is a “Tenerife classic” hike which perfectly demonstrates 2 of our different landscapes: volcano and forest. The beginning and the end are on lovely paths and tracks in the aromatic Canarian pine forest with fabulous views appearing through breaks in the tree line. The volcanic section is a traverse around the volcano Montañas Negras, which erupted in 1706 and was the biggest eruption known in terms of emitted lava. Although challenging at times under foot due to picón, the backdrop of Mount Teide and the dramatic north coast makes this all a very enjoyable walk.
