Your guide will introduce the neighborhood and share eerie stories associated with the hotel, including a tale connected with its beginnings and another involving a guest said to have never fully checked out. Pause on the grounds of Capitol Square near the Virginia State Capitol, designed by Thomas Jefferson in the form of a classical Roman temple. The tour does not enter the Capitol.

View the exterior of Virginia’s Executive Mansion, the official residence of the commonwealth’s governors since 1813. Pause outside Monumental Church, built as a memorial to the victims of the devastating Richmond Theatre fire of 1811. Pause outside Reid’s Row, a distinctive group of Italianate townhouses built in 1853 and the last surviving reminder of the residential neighborhood that once surrounded Capitol Square. Formerly known as Morson’s Row, the buildings were renamed in honor of civil rights leader and former Virginia lawmaker Dr. William Ferguson Reid. Your guide will share history and eerie stories connected with the property and its surroundings. This is an exterior stop; the tour does not enter the buildings.
