The Xi’an City Wall is one of the oldest, largest, and best-preserved military defensive systems in the world. Built in the 14th century during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), it encircles the historic center of Xi’an, spanning 13.7 kilometers (8.5 miles) in length and standing 12 meters (39 feet) tall.
