For decades it was abandoned and deteriorated with brothels and drug addicts, making the area very dangerous. With the dedication that Selaron achieved, in addition to involving the local community, it attracted tourists who returned and brought tiles from their countries and cities, transforming the area into a major tourist attraction in the city.
