The Castle of Nice was a military citadel. Built on top of a hill, it stood overlooking the bay of Nice from the 11th to the 18th centuries. It was besieged several times, notably in 1543 and 1691, before being taken by French troops in 1705 and finally destroyed in 1706 on the orders of Louis XIV.

In the heart of Nice, in the very centre of the famous Promenade des Anglais, stands the Palais de la Mediterranee Nice, a snow-white building with a majestic Art Deco facade. The hotel, designed by the famous architects Charles and Marcel Dalmas, opened its doors in 1929 and immediately became a favourite resting place for world celebrities. More than 80 years have passed, but the hotel-palace has not only not lost its unique charm, but, after a large-scale renovation in 2004, has added ultra-modern comfort to its former splendour.

One of the best places where people can spend their leisure time in Nice. The park was set up in 1914 and was opened by Albert I, King of Belgium. The garden is dotted with palm trees and other species of trees which cast a refreshing shadow on the meandering alleys of the park.
