Fantasy coffins, also known as figurative coffins, are colourful wooden coffins made in Ghana that serve both a functional purpose and as works of art. These coffins are crafted by specialized carpenters in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana and are designed to honour the deceased by representing their most meaningful objects, ideals, or fantasies.
Fantasy coffins draw inspiration from a variety of sources, including:
