We make a visit and pay our respects to one of the most historic monasteries in Crete, Arkadi Monastery. Our professional historian tour guide explains the significance of this monastery for agriculture, for the customs of Crete, as well as for the Cretan divine tradition. We pay special attention to the heroic act of the monks during the revolt against the Ottoman Empire in 1866, as we stand in awe in the gunpowder room right next to the monastery premises.
