Pyramids of Dahshour
The Pyramids of Dahshour are a treasure trove of ancient Egyptian history. While places like the Giza Plateau attract more tourists, Dahshour is like a captivating book, revealing fascinating stories of the past. The Bent Pyramid in Dahshour is one of the most significant burial grounds in Memphis, and one of the many vast necropolises found in the ancient Egyptian capital. Situated around 30km south of the Giza Pyramids and in the southern part of Saqqara, the Dahshour area houses the pyramids of the IV and XII Dynasties. Among them are the Pyramid of Amenemhat II and the Black Pyramid, also known as the Pyramid of Amenemhat III. In fact, King Snefru, the founder of the IV Dynasty, was the first ruler to select this royal area for his tomb as it was near the capital, Memphis.
