Taza
A city of Berber origin, Taza is an obligatory crossing point to eastern Morocco and Algeria. This city was enlarged by the Merinid rulers who endowed it with mosques and Medersas. The ancient city is protected by impressive ramparts.
The surroundings of Taza are remarkable for their natural resources: the waterfalls of Ras El Oued, the chasm of Friaouato and reserved for experienced speleologists the caves of Chiker.
About fifty kilometers away, the Djebel Tazzeka (1980m) is the center of the Natural Park which bears its name. Climbing this summit allows you to discover both the Rif and the Middle Atlas. A good way to discover the region is also to frequent the weekly souks such as Oued Amlil on Tuesday, Sidi Abdeljelil on Thursday ... They bring together the inhabitants of the surroundings who sell and buy all the local products.
