We have two days in Kathmandu to experience one of Asia's most ticking cities before hopping on a flight to Lukla, the starting point of our trek. We follow the Dudh Kosi valley to Namche Bazaar and then trek into the Gokyo Valley. The trail ascends gradually and we enjoy a series of short trekking days, to ensure proper acclimatization, walking beside the moraines of the Ngozumpa glacier and turquoise lakes to reach our lodge in Gokyo. From here we can climb Gokyo Ri at 5360m to view all of the region's 8000m peaks including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu which display a panorama that punctuates the breath. From Gokyo, we ascend and scramble across the Renjo La, dramatically back-drop...

After an early morning b/fast, we take the super flight from Kathmandu to Lukla at 2827m. The airstrip was built by Sir Edmund Hillary and the Sherpas in the mid-1960s, Flight time is about 35 minutes. We will have time to explore the village while the Sherpa crew sorts out and load the trekking equipment after landing. In the afternoon, we begin the trek by descending towards the Dudh Kosi River, where we join the main trail to Namche Bazaar, just above Chaurikharka at 2713m. The walking is easy and after passing through the small village of Ghat at 2550m, it’s a short walk to Phakding where we’ll stay overnight.
