Drakolimni or "Dragon Lake" is located in mountain Tymfi is the most widely known in Greece. According to local folktales the lakes used to be inhabited by dragons that were fighting every day by throwing pines and rocks and thus created the peculiar landscape and gave their names to the lakes. The lake resides at an altitude of 2050m above sea level, on the mountain Tymfi, in Vikos –Aoos National park and it is a part of UNESCO world heritage site. Visitors get a taste of the mythical "Dragon lake" while observing the Alpine Triton and the magnificent scenery of the mountainous landscape.

Itinerary
A unique guided hiking up to the mythical Dragon Lake in Greece, explore the beauty of nature, take memorable photos of cliffs and wild goats, and discover the small village of Papingo. The route is mostly uphill and in the middle of it is the Astraka shelter. During the tour visitors may take a few breaks to drink water from the springs while observing flowers with vivid colors (mostly wild lily) growing at high altitudes. At the end of the route (and about 2,000 meters altitude) there is Drakolimni Lake where visitors may take a break to absorb the breathtaking views.
