Glover Garden
Glover Garden is named for Thomas Glover, a Scottish entrepreneur who came to Japan at 21 and never left. As an entrepreneur he immersed himself in all areas of Japanese business, even opening up a mining island called Gunkanjima or Battleship island. He was eventually awarded the Second Class Order of the Rising Sun.

At the bottom of Glover Garden, this Catholic church built by French Jesuits is thought to be the oldest in Japan.

Dejima
Dejima was perhaps one of the most significant places in Japan during Sakoku, the period of National Isolation. The artificial Island was built in 1634 by local merchants for the purpose of allowing foreign traders to conduct their trades whilst maintaining National Isolation.
