We turn down Damenstiftstraße to enter into the heart of the Hackenviertal. Filled with indepentdant shops and little tourism this is the only place left in the old town that still feels local,

Hackenstraße
On this street is one of the best preserved of the town houses of the old Bavarian nobility, once also the home of the famous poet Heinrich Heine. There is also one of the oldest houses in the city here plus the MUCA. The newest art gallery in Munich, deadicated to comtemporary street art. A part of the gallery was an above ground WW2 bunker

Fragmente vom Siegestor in München
On our way here we will pass by a memorial to victims of the holocaust before we turn to the fragements of the Seigstor. Damaged in the war they were never added back to the restored momument and are here as a memorial to the desertuction of Munich in World War 2.
