Hever Castle & Gardens
We follow a guided tour of the ancestral home and gardens of Anne Boleyn, Second wife of Henry VIII - sent to the Tower for execution.
The Castle was purchased by William Waldorf Astor, the American multi-millionaire. Hever Castle became the place to be seen at the turn of the 20th century.
It is a storybook castle with a moat and drawbridge! After the tour we head to the Henry VIII Pub (built in 1597) across from the castle's main gate.
After lunch, we head to our hotel just outside Dover. Weather and time permitting we may see a fabulous 12th-century church at Barfrestone, Kent - a real gem in rural England.
