Camellon de los Martires
The Camellón de los Martires is one of the most emblematic sites related to the emancipation of Cartagena de Indias (1810 - 1821), one of the most outstanding political events of the former Viceroyalty of La Nueva Granada, when the Republic of Colombia, today, was a colony of the Spanish empire.
The Camellón, Plaza or Paseo de los Martires, as it has been known interchangeably over the years, is located in front of the current Clock Tower. Separated by two tracks, there is the Pegasus Pier, the Cartagena Convention Center and the Centennial Park of Independence.
